Our School Day

Early Morning

School gates are open from 8.30am and we welcome the children into school from 8.45. Registration closes at 8.55am. Children arriving after this time will be classed as late. The school gates are locked at 9.00am.

Assemblies

Children take part in an act of worship every day.  During the week children experience whole school, class and key stage assemblies.  Friday's celebration assembly is always a highlight of the week.

Morning Playtime

We operate a split morning break system whereby half of the school play from 10.20 – 10.35am and then the second half from 10.40 – 10.55am

Lunchtime

We run 2 lunchtime sittings to enable all children to have a quality dining experience with our hot food cooked on site.

Children in Year F2, 1,2 and 5 eat on first sitting.

Children in Year 3, 4 and 6 eat on second sitting.

Afternoon Play

Children in KS1 and F2 have a 10 minute afternoon play.

Drop off and Collection

At the beginning and end of the school day, parents/carers are encouraged into the playground. This helps to build up a close relationship between home and school – we want to have good links with all parents. If normal arrangements have to be altered (eg you are delayed or another person is collecting your child) please let us know. This avoids any confusion or upset.

To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Alternatively, we have bike-racks. If you do need to travel by car, please park wisely.

We are lucky to have an arrangement with Simply Gym located close to the school, whereby parents/carers are able to park safely and free of charge during morning drop off and afternoon pick up and walk the short distance to school. This helps to avoid congestion in front of the school building.

At the end of the Day

School finishes at 3.15pm and children are released from their classroom break out spaces. In early years/KS1 we will only dismiss a child once we see a recognised adult to collect them.

In Year 3, 4, 5 and 6, we begin to build independence with teachers and children waiting in the break out spaces until their adult collects them.

In Year 6 children are able to walk home alone once permission has been given by their parent.

If normal arrangements have to be changed, (e.g. you are delayed or another person is collecting your child) please let us know, this avoids any confusion or upset.

Travelling to our school

We encourage our children to walk or ride a scooter or bicycle to school as it has many benefits including being much healthier for your child. If you do have to drive, Simply Gym kindly allow our parents to park in their car park and then walk from there. Take a look at our Travelling to School leaflet which provides you with lots of useful information about travelling to school.
