School Attendance

As a parent/carer you have a legal responsibility for ensuring your child attends school.

If they cannot attend, for any reason, you should tell us and we may be able to authorise the absence if appropriate.

Absence Procedure

If you keep your child at home due to illness, it's important to phone the school office by 9am leaving their name, class and a reason for the absence.

Please continue to call each morning until your child returns to school (unless it's a long term illness/medical condition or the 48 hours required after a sickness and/or diarrhoea bug).

If your child is absent from school and we have not been notified of the reason for the absence, we will text the first named contact we have for that child. If we receive no response, we will then telephone all contacts until we can make contact with someone and obtain an explanation for the child’s absence. We will leave a voicemail if no-one picks up.

School Absence information is reported termly to the Education Welfare Officer who may, in the case of persistent absence, take action on behalf of the school.

Holidays

Holidays are not authorised during term time unless they are due to exceptional circumstances. If you do need to take your child out of school during term time, please complete an absence request form which can be found in the school reception or via the link a below. Absences of over 10 days in any one academic year will be reported to the School Governors and a fine may be incurred.
