Choir (Tuesday 3.15 - 4.00)

Choir meets every week after school with Miss Jackson. We enjoy learning a variety of new songs. We have the opportunity to perform during assemblies and music festivals with other schools in Swindon. We also learn different warm ups and games for our voices. We are currently learning Queen songs and folk songs from other countries for the Junior Music Festival.

Write a Book Club (Wednesday 3.15 - 4.15)

Write a Book Club has only just started but we are a small group of budding authors, who have all got the enthusiasm to become writers. We have just started to write our first story, though some of us have written stories before. We have a goal in mind in that are going to enter the BBC Radio 2 - 500 words Competition. Here we have to write a story of up to 500 words and then Mrs Godwin will upload our story to the competition website and we will all keep our fingers crossed. We have all got a young writers kit, which gives us help and guidance ad well as access to other websites that help us with ideas by providing illustrations as a stimulus to help us with ideas for our stories.

If you would like to have a go at entering BBC Radio 2 – 500 words competition then have a look at the website below:

Recorders Intermediate (Wednesday 12.30 - 1.00)

Recorder club meets every Wednesday lunchtime. We learn new songs and practise songs we already know, sometimes with a CD. Miss Jackson teaches the higher group and Mrs Hampson teaches the beginners group. The songs that we learn become more challenging as we learn more notes and rhythms. We enjoy playing together and have performed to the school during an assembly.

‘I like recorders because you learn a new tune every week.’ – Ellie

‘Your imagination can run free when you’re playing the recorder. It’s fun. I like learning new tunes.’ – Rebekah

‘I like playing the notes on a recorder.’ – Jamie

‘Recorders is fun.’ - Charlotte

Talking Textiles (Wednesday 3.15 - 4.15)

Knitting (Friday 12.30 - 1.00)

Dance Club (Friday 3.15 - 4.15)

Dance Club, led by Miss Sly and Miss Vaughan, first started in the Autumn Term of 2010. During our first year, we covered a wide range of dance styles, including Line Dancing, Disco, Bollywood and even the Rugby Haka!

Our club has now become even bigger, seeing us grow to 45 members! In order to keep Dance Club fresh and exciting, we have introduced the idea of musicals. Throughout the Spring and Summer Terms, we will be taking our inspiration from West End shows such as Thriller, Grease, Shrek, We Will Rock You and The Lion King!

We hope that the children will develop their ability to interpret music and express themselves through drama and dance. There might even be some performances along the way! Watch this space!
