Year 4 and 5
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
This term in Year 4/5 this term we have been studying the Aztecs. We have found where they eventually settled, after years of travelling and being at war with other tribes. They settled in a place that they called Tenochtitlan on Lake Texcoco. Did you know that they believed that their Gods told them to look for an eagle sitting on a cactus eating a snake and when they say this that was where they should settle, and that is what is now called Mexico.
We found about their way of life, who were the important people of the tribe and what life was like for children. We have been to Cadbury World to discover how the Aztecs invented Chocolate and we got to taste some too. Look at our photos and see what a good time we had!
We have been making our own Aztec masks so make sure that you look out for them displayed around school.
We are looking forward to the next stages of our Topic as we are going to learn about Aztec sacrifice – they were a very blood thirsty tribe of people!
Finally we will be designing and making our own chocolate as well as the wrappers that will go around them.
